Uncommitted voters have been refusing to vote for Biden over his support for Israel's war in Gaza. AOC says she's voting for Biden this year — but also sees an "upside" to the uncommitted movement. AdvertisementRep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is not an uncommitted voter herself — but she wants Democrats to recognize the "upside" of the movement. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who represents the majority-Arab Michigan city of Dearborn, endorsed the movement and cast an uncommitted ballot herself. Other progressives like Ocasio-Cortez have taken a slightly different approach, praising the movement for raising the issue while continuing to support Biden personally.

Read previewLots of consumers like streaming music. Lots of musicians complain about streaming — they say it doesn't generate nearly as much revenue for them as they deserve and need. So here's a proposal to help fix that: a tax that would increase American consumers' music streaming bills by 50% — meaning you'd pay an extra $4 to $10 a month for services like Spotify or Apple Music. I don't believe there was ever a time that Americans supported a 50% tax hike on anything, for any reason. But when we got on the phone to discuss the bill this month, he said it's supposed to be taken literally and seriously.

A campaign to get Michigan Democrats to vote against incumbent President Joe Biden in the state's February 27 primary has just gained a new supporter, Rep. Rashida Tlaib. Now, she's joining a campaign led by her sister to turn that disappointment in the Biden administration into an "uncommitted" vote in the upcoming Michigan primary, Tlaib said in a video posted to the X account of the campaign Listen To Michigan on February 17. The campaign, Listen to Michigan, is an effort to earn Biden's backing for a cease-fire in Israel's war in Gaza by having Democrats vote "uncommitted" in the Michigan primary. Now, speaking from an early voting site in Michigan, she's telling her constituents to vote against the president directly. "If you want us to be louder then come here and vote uncommitted," Tlaib said.

REUTERS/Jonathan Ernst/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsWASHINGTON, Nov 7 (Reuters) - The U.S. House voted on Tuesday to censure Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib, Congress's lone Palestinian-American lawmaker, for comments she made regarding Israel's war with Hamas in Gaza. Twenty-two Democrats joined with most Republicans in the chamber to censure Tlaib for allegedly "promoting false narratives" on Hamas' Oct. 7 gun rampage in Israel and "calling for the destruction of the state of Israel." The motion was sponsored by Republican Representative Richard McCormick. The idea that criticizing the government of Israel is antisemitic sets a very dangerous precedent," Tlaib said. 2 Democrat in the House, told reporters on Tuesday that while he "strenuously disagreed" with Tlaib's remarks about Biden, he believed the censure motion was not productive.

Nearly two dozen of Greene's GOP colleagues voted that down, leading Republican Rep. Rich McCormick of Georgia to introduce a narrower resolution that ultimately passed. (Photo by Celal Gunes/Anadolu via Getty Images)House lawmakers on Tuesday censured Rep. Rashida Tlaib, the sole Palestinian American in Congress, over her remarks and actions in response to the Israel-Hamas war. The censure resolution, authored by Rep. Rich McCormick, R-Ga., passed 234 to 188 with almost two dozen Democrats voting in favor of it. The measure censures Tlaib, D-Mich., for "promoting false narratives regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel and for calling for the destruction of the state of Israel." "It is a sad fact, but this type of antisemitic hate is being promoted by a small group of members in this body, chiefly Rep. Tlaib," McCormick said on the House floor before the vote. In a lengthy statement before the vote, Tlaib defended her comments and actions, arguing that she is the lone Palestinian voice in Congress and protected by free speech.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib will face a censure vote Wednesday after a Democratic effort to quash it failed. Six House Republicans voted with Democrats, but attendance issues on the Democratic side allowed the resolution to move forward with a majority of votes anyway. Democratic Rep. Brad Schneider of Illinois voted against tabling the resolution, while Rep. Susan Wild of Pennsylvania — the top Democrat on the House Ethics Committee — voted present. In the days since her last resolution failed, she has raged at the 23 Republicans who voted with Democrats to table it. Rep. Rashida Tlaib is facing condemnation for endorsing the phrase "from the river to the sea." Here's what you should know about the current controversy over the slogan — as well as its origins and contemporary use. Towards the end of that video, a crowd of pro-Palestine protestors in Michigan can be heard chanting the slogan. In other words, the slogan did originate as a call for the dismantling of Israel as a Jewish state. All of it, from the [Mediterranean] Sea to the [Jordan] River, and we are not here to apologize for this."

Marjorie Taylor Greene's attempt to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib has failed — in major part thanks to her home-state Republican colleagues.
